OWP has been hosting conferences since 1979, when a small group of agency planners from a handful of state fish and wildlife agencies first met in Wichita, Kansas to share ideas, successes, and failures.
OWP conferences are hosted in various locations across North America and generally held every two years.
Through the years, OWP experimented by partnering with like-minded organizations to both expand our exposure to different disciplines as well as making our precious travel dollars go further.
Recently, we have partnered with Colorado State University and their biennial Pathways Conference to host training workshops and conference sessions while connecting with a diversity of conservation organizations and professionals. We have conducted workshops and training sessions at the North American Wildlife and Natural Resources Conference, the International Association for Public Participation (IAP2), and the Society for Outdoor Professionals (SORP).
