It is with sad hearts that the Executive Committee of the Organization of Wildlife Planners (OWP) is announcing the dissolution of the OWP, effective December 31, 2020.
As society and the conservation community have changed it has been increasingly difficult to attract, retain and engage membership in the organization. After consulting with some key OWP supporters, we close the doors with pride in how OWP has supported state conservation agencies over decades in their efforts to improve strategic and operational planning processes, communication, social science application and relevancy. These disciplines are now embedded in agencies across the country and other organizations have formed to support these specific disciplines. Please know that this decision was not taken lightly. Many conservation professionals have been positively impacted by OWP over the years both by what OWP has offered them in terms of tools and lessons as well as a solid network of professionals from which to call upon when needed.
The OWP website will close on December 31, 2020. We will be archiving some OWP products on a website/portal for the Relevancy Roadmap which launched this week. Their team is currently working on transferring content from OWP. Click here to visit the website. Even as we close our books, we remain your colleagues in conservation and hope to reconnect with you in different spaces in the future. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Ann LeClaire or any of the Executive Committee members.
